Lucknow:  Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday charged Congress-led UPA government with tabling Food Security Bill and approving the creation of Telangana state with an eye on next year's Lok Sabha polls.

“Congress is doing vote bank politics and is afraid of facing Lok Sabha polls... This is the reason, it has brought Food Security Bill and has decided on carving out Telangana state,” he told a meeting of party backward cell at SP headquarters here.

“Despite all these gimmicks, neither Congress nor BJP would be able to form the next government at the Centre.

Third forces in the country are becoming powerful and SP is the biggest party among them...

And without SP nobody would be able to form the government,” said Yadav, whose party supports the UPA from outside.

He also said that the strength of regional forces in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Maharashtra would be enhanced after the Lok Sabha polls.

On Congress' decision to grant Telangana statehood, Yadav said this creation of smaller states would only aggravate problems and help the Naxals to spread their roots.
