Four candidates from ruling Congress, including Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh, and two from main Opposition TDP are set to be elected unanimously to the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh.
Ramesh, N Janardhan Reddy, J D Seelam and V Hanumanth Rao of Congress and TDP's Y S Chowdhary and G Sudha Rani today filed their nominations with the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Secretary, on the last day. Elections on June 14 are being held to fill the six vacancies from the state and no one else has filed nomination till 3 pm when the time expired for filing papers.
While the four Congress candidates are sitting members of the Upper House of Parliament, the TDP chose fresh faces. The scrutiny of nominations would take place tomorrow and the last date for withdrawal is June 7. PTI
