New Delhi- The Congress' committee on Kashmir met on Wednesday night under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi reviewing the performance of the state's coalition government, of which the party is a constituent, and extended complete support to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The meeting asked the state government to crack down on corruption and non-functioning of a part of the bureaucracy, sources here said.
It also laid emphasis on district and tehsil-level contact with the people.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Defence Minister A K Antony, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, senior Congress leaders Saifuddin Soz, Karan Singh and Ahmed Patel.
Kashmir Valley had witnessed separatist-sponsored street violence in the last three weeks. PTI
