Nagpur: The factional feud within the city unit of NCP has taken a ugly turn with city president Ajay Patil, his corporator wife Pragati, their son and six others being booked for allegedly robbing another party leader and threatening him, police said today.

Both groups clashed during the party's preparatory meeting for the forthcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls recently which was addressed by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and State NCP chief Sunil Tatkare here on July 27.

Shailendra Tiwari lodged a complaint with Police yesterday against Patil, his wife Pragati, son Shubhankar and six others for allegedly robbing Rs 3,000 from him and threatening him with dire consequences and for chasing him with some sharp weapons.

Police accordingly registered offences under section of 392, 323, 506, 143, 146 IPC and 135 of Bombay Police ACT (BP) against nine persons, last night, a police release said.

However no arrests have been made so far. When contacted, Patil said these complaints are out of political vengeance and he has not done anything wrong.

“Police can verify from CCTV. I am not seeking any anticipatory bail... if police wants to arrest me let them do so,” Patil added.
