Raipur: As polling today began in 18 assembly constituencies of Chhattisgarh amidst tight security, Maoists struck at polling booths to deter voters from coming out of their houses.
Maoists attacked Pani Dongra village under Antagarh constituency and destroyed the electronic voting machines. Also, a polling team in Pakhanjur was threatened by Maoists.
A pressure bomb was exploded in Pakhanjur area injuring a BSF jawan on Sunday.
Police intelligence sources said, Maoists have been assembling in Dantewada and Sukma areas to carry out a major strike.
Security forces have taken all possible precautionary measures to combat Maoist attacks.
