High drama was witnessed at the residence of TRS MP Vijayasanthi in Hyderabad on Friday as police tried to arrest her for allegedly making inflammatory remarks for which she was also served a notice by the Election Commission.

A police team, led by Banjara Hills Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) A Ravinder, went to the residence of Vijayasanthi, a popular South Indian actress of yesteryear, at posh Jubilee Hills which was resisted strongly by a large group of TRS leaders.

The policemen had difficulty in going inside the residence of Vijayashanti as the TRS activists raised slogans condemning the police. Senior TRS leader N Narasimha Reddy alleged that the policemen were behaving like "goondas" and their action was a conspiracy by the ruling Congress.

Vijayasanthi has reportedly asked Telangana supporters to "chop down the foes of Telangana" while addressing a gathering of TRS workers at the party office few days ago.  police have booked a case under IPC Sections 153-A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth and residence) and 505 (2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, ill-will or hatred between classes).

After high drama for some time, policemen went inside the residence of Vijayasanthi and they found that she was not present there. Stating that they would come later, the police team left the place.

Vijayasanthi, who returned home later, said she went to a hospital as she was not well.  Wondering how come the police enter her house when she was not present, Vijayasanthi, however, asserted that she is ready for any sacrifice for the sake of separate Telangana demand.

"What I said was only a slogan in support of Telangana. This is nothing but an attempt to suppress our voice," she claimed.  Maintaining that she would not be afraid of arrest, she said she would be available at her home.  Meanwhile, the Election Commission has issued a notice to the MP for her alleged inflammatory comments.

"The comments are objectionable and amount to violation of model code of conduct. A notice has been served on her seeking an explanation. She should reply to it by 11 am on July four. The notice states that if she does not reply or if the reply is not satisfactory, Election Commission would take action," state Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao told reporters.

Police went to the residence of Vijayashanti earlier in the day too but she was not present in her house, police said.  The Chief Electoral Officer said yesterday that suo moto cognisance was taken of the comments made by Vijayasanthi. PTI
