Nagpur, Dec 10: Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Dilip Walse Patil today assured Shiv Sena members that he would examine the record and expunge remarks on their leader Uddhav Thackeray made by Congress' Baba Siddiique, when the Niira Radia tapes issue figured in the House.

Sena leader Subhash Desai raised the issue in the House saying Siddique referred to Uddhav Thackeray yesterday when he said names of BJP leaders figured in lobbyist Niira Radia's conversation with high profile people.

BJP's Davendra Phadanvis also joined the issue and later both of them submitted the tapes to the House.

Desai said Thackeray was not a member of either House and therefore could not defend himself personally. We should not say anything against those not present in the House, he said.

Speaker Patil at this juncture admitted that as per the rules and traditions of the House, name of anyone who is not a member of the House or not able to present his case, should not be dragged in the House.

The Speaker assured to examine the record and expunge the remarks accordingly. PTI
