Mumbai, Jul 13:BJP legislator Devendra Phadanvis demanded here today that Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan be booked under Section 304 A of the IPC and the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act 2006, for negligence which resulted in culpable homicide in last month's Mantralaya fire.
Besides the Maharashtra chief minister, he said that PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Chief Secretary Jayantkumar Banthia, Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary Shyamalkumar Mukherjee and the Chief Fire Officer at Mantralaya also must be booked under Section 304 A, which is, causing death by negligence.
In his written complaint to the senior inspector at Marine Lines police station, Phadanvis said they have been directly or indirectly responsible for the negligence because of which five people died.
He said the case of accidental death under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code made at the police station is incorrect.
