New Delhi: The BJP Monday called upon the UPA government to bring a bill for creation of Telangana in winter session and get it passed. The party also wants passage of Lokpal bill.
The Bharatiya Janata Party conveyed its views at an all-party meeting convened by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath Monday. Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram were also present at the meeting.
The BJP leaders present at the meeting included L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad. The winter session of parliament begins Dec 5.
"We demanded that Telangana and Lokpal Bill should be brought by the Government and passed in this session," Sushma Swaraj, the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, said in a tweet.
The government is planning to bring a bill for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and creation of separate state of Telangana.
She said the party asked for discussion on internal security with special reference to bomb blasts in Patna in October. The blasts occurred ahead of BJP rally addressed by its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi .
"We also asked for debate on atrocities against women and functioning of JPC on 2G spectrum," she said.
Sushma Swaraj said the party also wants discussion on price rise and slowdown of economy.
