New Delhi, Jul 12: BJP today said it will move Supreme Court to quash the recent hike in power tariff in the national capital and alleged it was done in an “arbitrary manner”.
Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta said a PIL will be filed in the apex court against the decision to hike power tariff by around 26 per cent with effect from July 1.
He alleged requisite orders were not issued.
“It is surprising that the increased power tariff has become effect from July 1 but the DERC has not issued orders in this regards. When the DERC, which is the regulatory body, has not given orders in favour of power tariff hike then on what ground increased power tariff is being recovered from the people of Delhi. This is the question which will be raised in Supreme Court,” Gupta said.
Yesterday, Delhi High Court had asked Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) to bring out a notification in relation to a recent tariff hike on a petition filed by a BJP leader.
