Lucknow: The BJP Thursday demanded an apology from the Uttar Pradesh chief minister after his cabinet minister Mohd Azam Khan accused the prime minister of not wishing people on Eid-ul-Zuha.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was referring to Urban Development Minister Azam Khan's speech at a function Wednesday where he taunted PM Narendra Modi of being "small hearted".
Party spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said the minister should explain his false propaganda. Citing an official release dated Oct 6, Pathak said the prime minister had wished the people on Eid-ul-Zuha.
"Azam Khan has got into this bad habit of targeting the prime minister. His allegation that the PM did not wish the people on Eid is factually wrong," he said.
He has sought an explanation from Khan for trying to mislead the people.
"We will wait and see what (Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister) Akhilesh Yadav has to say on this," he added.
