BJP may return to power in Rajasthan, Hung assembly in Delhi: India TV-CVoter projection

New Delhi: The BJP under the leadership of former chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia is set to storm back to power with 118 out of a total of 200 assembly seats in the forthcoming elections in Rajasthan, but in Delhi, it appears that a hung assembly is in the offing, says an India TV-CVoter-Times Now opinion poll survey.The poll survey projects BJP to win 30 seats, the ruling Congress 29 seats, Aam Aadmi Party 7 seats, BSP 2 and 'Others' 2 seats in the 70-seat Delhi assembly. The opinion poll survey for Delhi projects a vote share of 38 per cent for BJP, 34 pc for Congress and 16 per cent for Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, followed by 7 percent for BSP and five percent for the rest. It shows a six percent vote swing away from the Congress in Delhi, and a two percent vote swing in favour of BJP. AAP may spoil the party for BJP in Delhi, according to C-Voter projections. The silver lining for the Congress in Delhi is that 37 per cent of the respondents voted for Sheila Dikshit as chief ministerial candidate, while 18 pc opted for BJP leader Vijay Goel and 17 pc for AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. 71 per cent of respondents in Dellhi said they were in favour of a change in Central government, 55 pc wanted change in Delhi government, 69 pc wanted the nation's Prime Minister to be changed, and 51 pc were in favour of changing Delhi's chief minister. Among the Delhi respondents, 55 per cent favoured Narendra Modi as the best PM candidate, while 18 pc favoured Rahul Gandhi.In the Rajasthan assembly poll scenario, the opposition BJP is projected to win 118 seats out of a total of 200 seats, with the ruling Congress' share declining to 64 seats. BSP is projected to win three seats and Others 15 seats. Voteshare wise, BJP is projected to get 40 per cent vote share, while the Congress is projected to get 36 pc. BSP is projected to get 4 per cent and Others 20 pc voteshare. Among the respondents in Rajasthan, 44 per cent were in favour of Vasundhara Raje as chief minister, and 25 per cent in favour of incumbent Ashok Gehlot as chief minister. Five per cent favoured Sachin Pilot for the post. Among Rajasthan respondents, 48 per cent favoured Narendra Modi as prime minister, and 17 pc favoured Rahul Gandhi. 69 per cent of the respondents wanted a change in government at the Centre, while 57 pc wanted a change in government in Rajasthan. India TV has already telecast the C-Voter projections for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where the BJP has been projected to retain power, with lesser margin in number of seats. C-Voter projections show that the ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh may be able to retain their majority, albeit by a slender margin.According to the opinion poll, BJP is set to win 47 out of a total 90 seats in Chhatisgarh, with Congress coming close with 40 seats, BSP 2 and others 1. Vote share wise, BJP's vote share, if polls are held right now, is projected at 42 per cent and Congress 38 per cent, says the opinion poll. Asked who would be the best candidate for chief minister, BJP's incumbent chief minister Dr Raman Singh scored the highest with 48 per cent, followed by Congress leader Ajit Jogi at 23 per cent. State Congress chief Charan Das Mahant came at 7 per cent. In neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has been projected to win 130 seats with Congress coming second at 84 seats, BSP 5 seats and others 11 in a house of 230. Vote share wise, BJP this time is expected to secure 40 per cent, and Congress 36 pc, followed by BSP with 8 pc and Others 16 per cent. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan leads with 56 per cent in the poll conducted for the person best suited for the top post in the state. Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia comes second with 23 per cent.
