Patna: BJP today trashed senior JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar's allegation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “gone back” on his promises, and asked him to talk about the “betrayal” of mandate of 2010 by breaking ties with the saffron party.

“He is seeking answer from Narendra Modi government which is only six-month old. He (Kumar) should instead talk about his performance in last five years and betraying mandate of 2010 Assembly polls given to NDA by breaking ties with the BJP,” senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi told reporters.  At Jehanabad yesterday, Kumar had raised issues like returning black money stashed in foreign countries to India and granting special category status to Bihar, on which Modi had ‘gone back'.

“The next Bihar poll will not be fought on black money but on JD(U)'s conduct in betraying the 2010 mandate and joining hands with (RJD chief) Lalu Prasad and Congress,” Sushil Modi said in response to Kumar's allegations.  Sushil Modi also mentioned the ‘abuses' Prasad and Kumar, the two Janata parivar members, hurled at each other before turning friends after losing to BJP in Lok Sabha polls.

The ‘abuses' included Prasad's comment that Kumar had sent to jail in fodder scam and Kumar started ‘vidwa vilap' (wailing by a widow) after JD(U)'s 17-year ‘love marriage' was over with BJP.

On the other hand, Kumar's comments like Prasad's “political career is a manifesto of Bihar's ruin” and “Prasad is giving people lantern (RJD symbol) while I am giving electricity” were also mentioned by Sushil Modi.
