New Delhi: AAP rebel Vinod Kumar Binny may join BJP and probably be pitted against Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi assembly seat, BJP sources said.
Last Friday, former Delhi Assembly speaker and AAP MLA Maninder Singh Dhir has joined the BJP.
Discussions with Binny are in the last stages and he may join the party anytime soon, the sources said.
“We want to induct him in the party to pit him against his former colleague Kejriwal as nobody in the party (BJP) has come forward to show willingness to face the former Delhi chief minister in the electoral fight,” said a senior BJP leader.
He also said that a final decision will soon be taken in this regard, adding that Binny, who already publicly announced that he wanted to take on Kejriwal in Assembly elections, has indicated to join the party to “expose” him.
On the other hand, Binny said that he has raised some questions, including reducing of power tariff by 30 per cent, and if he got answers of his questions, he would “definitely” join the BJP.
“I have asked BJP that what they have done on their promise to reduce power tariff in the city by 30 per cent till now and if they come to power, how would they slash power rates by 30 per cent. If I got appropriate answer of my question from the BJP, I will definitely join the saffron party,” Binny said.
Vinod Kumar Binny, former MLA from Laxmi Nagar, had quit the Aam Aadmi Party earlier this year.
