Gonda (UP): Union minister and Congress candidate Beni Prasad Verma today filed his nomination for Gonda Lok Sabha seat and claimed that BJP leader Narendra Modi would be "sent to jail for his entire life" after a Congress-led government is again formed at the Centre.
"Modi will not be able to become prime minister of the country...People are clever enough to understand his designs and discard him," Verma told reporters after filing his nomination.
"Modi will be sent to the jail for his entire life after a Congress-led government is voted to power again. Formation of UPA government for the third time is necessary for development of the country," he added.
He declared assets worth Rs 7.62 crore.
In his affidavit filed along with his nomination papers, Verma declared that he owns houses in Lucknow and Barabanki worth over Rs six crore.
He also declared Rs 75 lakh in bank accounts, and firearms including a pistol, rifle and gun in his name worth over Rs 3.25 lakh.
He also owns two cars including Honda CRV worth Rs 7.16 lakh and Innova worth Rs 4.9 lakh and agricultural land of Rs 71 lakh.
