Kolkata:  With the central intelligence agencies issuing a warning that Kolkata and its port areas might face a terror attack, West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi today emphasised the need for a coordinated effort of all agencies to counter it.

“Security is of paramount importance in any state and the country and it should be dealt with a coordinated effort of all agencies,” Tripathi said here today.

Regarding the central agencies' warning of the terror threat to the city and its port area, the Governor said, “They seem to have communicated to different departments in the state asking to initiate necessary steps.”

The Navy had yesterday withdrawn its two warships - INS Khukri and INS Sumitra - from the port area where they were docked for public viewing. The city police confirmed having received inputs from central security agencies about the threat and has beefed up the security accordingly.
