Patna: The bail petition of incarcerated JD(U) MLA Anant Singh in an Arms Act case was today rejected by a district court here.
Judicial Magistrate Raghvendra Narayan Singh did not entertain the bail application of the MLA on the ground that a police probe was on in the case.
Patna police had registered a case of Arms Act in Sachivalay police station against the MLA following recovery of six magazines of Insas rifle and foreign-made bullet proof jacket during search at his official residence in connection with the kidnapping of four youths on June 17 where one of the youths had died.
The MLA's counsel argued that his client's signature was not taken on the seizure list of the police and that action against him was politically motivated.
Anant Singh, muscleman JD(U) MLA from Mokama in Patna district, is in Beur jail here in a case of kidnapping in Bihta in November last year.
