New Delhi: Delhi chief minister designate Arvind Kejriwal will not accept Z Plus security for him, AAP today said even as the police enhanced his security after the party's landslide victory.
"Arvind Kejriwal will not take Z plus security because it hinders his interaction with the people. We have not asked for any security until now, so there is no question of denying it.
"If he has to accept the Z Plus security then the police should give solid reasons and the level of threat for that kind of security," AAP leader Ashutosh said.
He, however, added that Kejriwal's security has been enhanced after the party's decisive victory.
"Arvind Kejriwal has been provided with Z plus security," Special Commissioner (Security) S B K Singh had yesterday said.
"After becoming chief minister, Kejriwal was given security by Delhi Police and that has continued even today. A police vehicle always accompanies him and there is some level of security outside his house.
"There has, however, been an increase in the security since yesterday, but no Z Plus security has been given," Ashutosh said.
Meanwhile, today, the Uttar Pradesh Police also enhanced security of Kejriwal, a resident of Kaushambi. He will be provided round-the-clock by 12 commandos armed with automatic guns.
The AAP chief has been averse to taking security. Even when he was the chief minister, he had denied security, but the police continued to provide the cover.
