New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal today met Lt Governor Najeeb Jung amid indications that the capital was heading for fresh polls as no party was in a position to form government.
Kejriwal, accompanied by senior party leader Manish Sisodia, apprised Jung of AAP's views on the political situation in the city.
Earlier, Congress and BJP informed the Lt Governor about their readiness to face fresh election in Delhi if no party was in a position to form government.
Congress demanded immediate dissolution of the Assembly to pave way for holding of elections in Delhi at the earliest while BJP conveyed to him that it was too ready to seek peoples' mandate.
"We have told the Lt Governor that Congress wants fresh elections along with Assembly polls in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir," Congress leader Harun Yusuf said after meeting Jung.
Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay met Jung and conveyed to him that his party was ready for polls. BJP, however, described the meeting as "informal".
Government sources said the Lt Governor will take a final decision on the political situation by this evening and may send a report to the Centre by tonight.
The LG last week had decided to begin consultations with political parties after the Supreme Court slammed him and the Centre for delay in taking a decision on government formation in Delhi, saying President's Rule cannot go on forever.
