Chandigarh: Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Amarinder Singh today greeted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal for the “outstanding success” in the Delhi elections and hoped that he would be able to fulfil all the promises he made to the people.
The former Punjab Chief Minister also suggested the Congress rank and file that although the results were quite disappointing, there was nothing to feel demoralised about.
“Performance in one or two elections does not decide the fate of a great party like Congress that is spread across the nook and corner of the country,” he said, adding the recent electoral results notwithstanding, Congress still remains a pan-India party representing all regions and all sections of the society.
In a statement here, Singh said the AAP victory has only reinforced the people's belief in the vibrant democracy that is India. “In fact it is the victory of democracy,” he said.
At the same time, the senior Congress leader hoped that the AAP would be able to fulfil all the promises it made to the people before going to the elections.
He said, for example, people in Delhi have now great expectations that they will soon be getting abundant and free water, free electricity and free WiFi.
“I hope the new AAP government does fulfil these promises at least as it concerns everyone in Delhi,” he said, while wishing the new government all the success.
