Patna, Sep 20 : Cutting across political lines, all national and regional parties, including ruling NDA on Monday asked Election Commission to deploy Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) personnel at all polling centres for the upcoming assembly polls in the state.
"We urged the EC to ensure sealing the limits of assembly constituencies on polling day and allowing measures to be taken for flood-hit people in Gopalganj," BJP national vice president Kiran Ghai and state party spokesperson Sanjay Mayukh told reporters.
Ghai said the BJP delegation who met the team headed by Chief Election Commissioner S Y Qureshi here asked the team to issue instructions for flag march by security personnel near every polling centres to instill confidence among the voters so that they could exercise their franchise fearlessly.
"Elaborate security at the polling booths has to be ensured on priority basis by the EC for free and fair assembly polls in the state," said RJD spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed Khan who met the EC team alongwith the party state president Abdul Bari Siddiqui.
Meanwhile, Congress too demanded deployment of central forces at all booths, as well as the other steps.
RJD and LJP leaders also asked the EC, which is on a two-day visit to Bihar, to set right various anomalies in the voters lists and said that an alternative proof of identity should be allowed for a larger turn out. PTI
