Lucknow: Holding the NDA government at the Centre responsible for the power crisis in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said the state was not getting its allocated quota of coal and power.  “We are not getting allocated quota of coal.

Do you (BJP members) ensure increase in coal and power quota from the Centre. Wearing saffron clothes doesn't work. The people are angry with us as we could not provide them adequate power,” Yadav said while replying to a question in Vidhan Sabha.

He also took a dig at Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal for his replies on micro-blogging site ‘Twitter' when he (Yadav) was available in person to know the reason behind shortage of power in the state.

“Your minister (Union Power minister) is replying on Twitter. What is this Twitter? Are you (BJP members) there on Twitter. I am available for whatever he wants to talk, why is he using Twitter,” Yadav said while replying to a question on availability of Power raised by BJP member Satish Mahan.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mohd Azam Khan said that the Centre had allocated 40 per cent less coal of the state's total allocated quota since BJP government came to power.

“Of the allocated 70 thousand metric tonnes coal Anpara plant got 22 thousand metric tonnes, Parichha plant got 11 thousand metric tonnes coal out of 18 thousand metric tonnes allocated, Panki plant received 3,420 metric tonnes out of 4 thousand metric tonnes and Obra got about 7000 metric tonnes coal of 15 thousand mt quota,” Khan said, while replying to another question raised by BSP member Dharmpal Singh on power supply.

“I request you all (BJP members) to ensure that state gets its allocated quota. UP has sent maximum number of MPs of your party (BJP). The state contributed a lot in formation of your government,” Khan said.

He also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign tours saying “Badshah desh chhod kar videshon me hai.  Desh andhere me hai log bhukho mar rahe hain. Fiji ko paisa diya ja raha hai, yahan khane ko nahi hai”.

(The leader (PM) is in foreign countries, the country is in dark and people are dying. Fiji was being given money at the time when we don't have anything to eat).

To which, BJP members objected and asked the Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey to ensure that such things did not happen, terming it out of contest.

To this, Khan said, “I mentioned the issue (of giving money to Fiji) as my money is also involved in it”.
