New Delhi: In the backdrop of the ongoing crisis within the Aam Aadmi Party, senior party leader Yogendra Yadav today said the reality of AAP was a "poor approximation" of its idea.

"I am not getting into the reality of Aam Aadmi Party but interested in the idea called AAP. I have to remind you that the idea of AAP and the reality of AAP (are different from each other)... As Plato reminded us that the reality is always very poor approximation of a pure ideal.

"I am not a Platonist, but in this instance, it's an idea worth using. There is always a distance in what is practiced and what is perceived. It is understanding that spirit and able to have that yardstick," Yadav said

He said this while delivering a lecture on the topic 'Idea of AAP' at the National Law University here.

Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, who were ousted from the party's Political Affairs Committee, have been at odds with the party leadership over various issues including formation of government with the help of Congress's support after Arvind Kejriwal resigned as chief minister in last tenure.

"There is a difference between an idea of something and its actual manifestation. The phenomena called the Aam Aadmi Party is an imperfect realisation. It is an experiment in making. We set ideals for ourselves. We try hard and very often we fail," he said.
