'AAP govt resigned as it didn't have number to bring Janlokpal'

New Delhi: Attacking Congress President Sonia Gandhi over her remarks on resignation of Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi, AAP shot back saying it did not continue in office owing to lack of numbers required to

“The Aam Aadmi Party would like to make it clear that it will not compromise on its core principle of eradicating corruption from the country.

It was on this promise that people of Delhi had given 28 seats to the AAP in the assembly elections and the party's minority government was working towards bringing a strong Janlokpal bill,” the statement added.

It also challenged the Congress to recommend dissolution of Assembly and conduct fresh poll in the city-state.  

“In case Congress party is so confident of its mature skills of running governments then why does not it direct the Lieutenant Governor to recommend dissolution of the state assembly and why is it afraid of facing the elections?   

“It is for Gandhi's Congress party to tell the people of Delhi why it is hiding behind the shield of President's rule and denying the voters their right to elect a new government?” the statement added.
