New Delhi: After BJP declined, and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi didn't rule possibility of alliance with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), to form the next Delhi government, Delhi's Lt Governor Najeeb Jung invited AAP's Arvind Kejriwal to discuss government formation. They will meet at 10.30pm on Saturday.

Earlier on Thursday, Gandhi said the issue of extending support to Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is “under consideration”. His remarks came at a time when Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has started efforts to break the impasse on government-formation after the elections threw up a hung verdict.

“It is under consideration”, Gandhi told reporters when asked if Congress will back AAP to form government in Delhi. Earlier, Gandhi held a meeting with the newly elected eight party MLAs of Delhi during which AICC general secretary Shakeel Ahmed and AICC Secretary Kuljit Singh Nagra were also present. He asked the MLAs reasons for their victory and the reasons for the defeat of the party.

Gandhi will be meeting the defeated candidates in batches after December 22 to understand reasons behind the debacle which saw the party's tally coming down from 43 to mere eight. He has also sought a report from all candidates.
