New Delhi: Amid the ongoing tussle between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, the Delhi government today appointed Arvind Ray as Principal Secretary in the General Administration Department replacing Rajendra Kumar.
However, the new appointment has been made without consulting the Lt Governor.
Yesterday, Chief Minister Kejriwal's personal secretary Rajendra Kumar was appointed as the Principal Secretary in place of Anindo Majumdar, who was sacked for clearing Shakuntala Gamlin's appointment as acting Delhi Chief Secretary.
On the directions of the AAP government, Majumdar was issued a notice and later his office was locked down. However, LG had termed the order void saying it did not have his approval.
The whole controversy erupted after Lt Governor appointed Shakuntala Gamlin as interim Delhi CS which was opposed by AAP govt saying it was consulted over the appointment.
Meanwhile, Home Minster Rajnath Singh said that a solution to the dispute will be found soon. The home minster said this after L-G Najeeb Jung met him to discuss the entire issue.
