Mumbai, July 24: As many as 42 Congress MLAs in Maharashtra have written a joint letter to the state party chief and Congress president Sonia Gandhi demanding that the chief minister Prithviraj Chavan must change his "style of functioning".

The MLAs, mostly supporters of two former chief ministers Ashok Chavan and Vilasrao Deshmukh, involved in the Adarsh housing scam, and disgruntled leader Narayan Rane, have signed the joint letter.

In the joint letter, the MLAs have alleged that chief minister Prithviraj Chavan was keeping most of the decisions pending and not clearing government files at a fast pace, because of which work in constituencies was getting hampered.

In the letter, the MLAs have alleged that if the present trend continues, it would be difficult for them to get re-elected from their constituencies.

The revolt against Chavan comes in the wake of NCP putting pressures on the Congress both at the Centre and in Maharashtra.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has been summoned to Delhi by the party high command for consultations.
