Bhopal: Over 7000 polling booths have been added to facilitate voting in the assembly elections this year in Madhya Pradesh.



According to an official release, there were 46,812 polling booths in 2008 assembly elections while this year the number has gone up to 53,896. About 7084 more polling booths were added after demarcation of constituencies.
    
There were 56,834 polling booths in 1998 in undivided Madhya Pradesh. In 1993, number of polling booths was 45,628; 44,641 in 1990, and in 34,012 in 1985.
       
Number of assembly constituencies in undivided Madhya Pradesh before 2003 was 320 and now its 230.
    
Voting percentage has been increasing constantly during last six Vidhan Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh.
    
It was 49.79 percent in  1985, 54.21 percent in 1990, 60.17 in 1993, 60.21 percent in 1998, 67.25 percent in 2003 and 69.78 percent and 69.78 percent in 2008.
