The next parliamentary elections are two years away but BJP President Amit Shah is already into election mode and will be travelling 88,000 km between national and state capitals in the next five months as part of the saffron party’s preparations for 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Economic Times reported.
The report says that these 88,000 km do not include Amit Shah’s journey for other political work between April 25 and September 25.
If these journeys are also included then the BJP president would travel almost 100,000 km in next five months that amounts to an average of 20,000 km every month.
The ET report says that Amit Shah’s schedule for next five months is so tight that he may even have to miss the swearing-in of next President of India.
The new President will be administered oath of office on July 25 but Amit Shah’s tentative schedule, accessed by ET, suggests that the BJP President will be in Kerala on July 25-27.
"The nationwide tour will provide opportunity to workers to interact with party national president. This will act to motivate party cadres and prepare state organisation for long haul beyond 2019 Lok Sabha elections," ET quoted one of its BJP sources as saying.
