Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that his party is ready for early polls and is confident of returning to power based on its 'unprecedented development works' in the state.
"If my opponents want an early election, I am prepared for that also. My government has done unprecedented development works and the enthusiasm of my supporters who have turned up here gives me confidence. If they work hard for the next five months, we will return to power after 2017 assembly elections." The Times of India quoted Yadav as saying in a function at his official residence.
The CM slammed the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leadership, saying the party engaged in mindless construction when it was in power in the state but his government focused on work that would serve the people.
The CM was releasing a series of new books, including a coffee table book highlighting the state's growth and prosperity in his regime in the state.
He said that his government had fulfilled all election promises within three years after coming to power and was confident of his win. "There are some political opponents who want early elections also. I am prepared for it," he remarked.
The chief minister also hit out at the BJP over its promise of Achhe Din and said it was in Uttar Pradesh that maximum bank accounts were opened.
“Much is talked about the Jan Dhan Yojana. Even in that scheme, while Uttar Pradesh contributed in a big way, our Samajwadi Pension Scheme has also seen many poor people getting their accounts opened. In fact, nearly 55 lakh bank accounts were opened due to our efforts,” The HIndustan Times quoted UP CM as saying.
Akhilesh said that his government had completed so many projects and undertaken developmental works which couldn't be compared with anyone.
