Senior Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav today dropped ample hints that he won’t campaign for the ruling party’s electoral ally -- the Congress in the remaining three-phase.

“I don’t want to go where Congress candidates are contesting,” Shivpal, the SP’s candidate from Jaswat Nagar constituency in Etawah, told reporters here today.

The former Minister and brother of SP supremo Mulyam Singh Yadav, however, said that he will surely ‘campaign for Samajwadi Party candidates’.

“I am with Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav). I will do whatever he wants me to do,” Shivpal said.

The former minister further indicated that he will also not ‘compromise’ his ministerial berth, if his party wins and Akhilesh Yadav becomes the Chief Minister after the assembly polls.

“Since I am contesting on SP ticket, I am in the party. After March 11, if I don’t get ignored or insulted, I will remain in the party,” he opined.

When asked about ‘someone’ who he had in past blamed for last week’s lathi charge in his constituency, the leader replied: “The administration was working on someone’s direction. (Prashasan ne hatne ko nahi kaha, sidhey lathi charge kar diya. Shaasan kisi ke ishaare par kaam kar raha tha).”

Three of seven phases of the UP Assembly polls have already taken place. The fourth phase will be held tomorrow whereas polling in the remaining three-phase will held on February 27, March 4 and 8. Results will be declared on March 11.
