Continuing his tradition of celebrating Diwali with jawans in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister is likely to visit the border state on the occasion of Diwali, which falls on October 30, this year as well.
This will be the third successive Diwali if the Prime Minister decides to visit J&K to celebrate it with troops. In 2014 and 2015, PM Modi had celebrated Diwali with jawans.
In 2014, he had paid a surprise visit to Siachen, the highest battleground in the world, to spend time with the troops on the occasion of the festival of lights.

The Prime Minister may take a special IAF plane on October 30 morning to reach the border. After September 28 surgical strikes, Indian security forces are maintaining tight vigil in the border regions.
The Prime Minister will stay there nearly for two-three hours due to security concerns.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has asked the Army not to make special arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit.
Meanwhile, the government has launched a campaign through which people can send Diwali greetings and messages to soldiers guarding the nation's frontiers to boost their morale.
People can send messages under the #Sandesh2Soldiers campaign on the Narendra Modi app through MyGov.in site and also through All India Radio. Doordarshan will also run a programme to share people's emotions for the armed forces.
