Senior Congress leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today dared Prime Minister to order an independent probe into Sahara diaries.
"Why is @PMOIndia shying from an independent and a thorough probe into the #BirlaSaharaPapers?" Sheila Dikshit tweeted.
Sheila Dikshit, the Congress party’s chief ministerial candidate for UP Assembly elections, had trashed the Sahara diaries on Monday by saying that the Supreme Court has already made its observations on them.
“There is no iota of truth in the allegations. I totally reject these allegations. It surprised me,” she said.
“The list has so many names. Then why are you focusing on Sheila Dikshit. I don’t even remember anything like this. There are names of other chief ministers. Why don’t you talk about them? Why only Sheila Dikshit?” she added.
Speaking at a rally in Mehsana, Rahul Gandhi had alleged that in the records with the Income Tax, there were notings of Sahara officials' claims that they paid the then Gujarat Chief Minister Modi nine times between October 2013 and February 2014 and that the total amount was Rs. 40 crore.
