Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s home in the well-guarded Lutyens’ Zone was burgled on November 29 and the robbers made away with several valuable items.
According to several media reports, valuable items including copper Gandhi glasses gifted to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi were stolen from his Lodhi Estate residence.
Tharoor has filed a case under IPC section 380/457 (burglary) at Tughlak Road police station.
Several teams of the New Delhi district special staff and the Crime Branch are working round-the-clock to nab the robbers, police said.
Police have also started questioning security guards and drivers working in nearby residences and others living in the vicinity.
Tharoor, in the complaint, said that the thieves scaled the wall of his residence and entered his personal office after breaking open the front door.
Besides the glasses given to Tharoor by PM Modi for his participation in the Swacch Bharat campaign, valuables stolen include an antique Nataraja idol, 12 small Ganesha idols, 10 small Hanuman idols, 12 32 GB pen drives and an internet dongle.
