A woman in Gujarat has accused a local BJP leader of torturing and raping here for the last 11 months. In her complaint filed with the police, the victim has alleged that the BJP leader, identified as Jayanti Govind Tadvi, had raped her for 11 months.
The victim, an Aanganwadi worker, said that Tadvi had threatened her of termination from service and slapping false charges against her husband. Tadvi is the party’s general secretary for Narmada district.
Earlier in February, a 24-year-old woman had accused 10 people, including four local BJP leaders, for allegedly gangraping her repeatedly in Kutch district. The victim was allegedly forced into prostitution by the accused, who blackmailed her after filming the incident.
The BJP’s state leadership had at that time taken cognizance of the case and suspended all four workers from their primary membership of the party.
In March, MoS for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja had told the state Assembly that cases of crime against women has dropped by 50 per cent in last three years.
