Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Supreme Court pulled up central governmenton the issue of appointment of judges on Friday.
Rahul termed the Supreme Court's harsh comments against the central government a ‘reality check’ for Prime Minister Modi.
"Reality check from Supreme Court for the PM : No Govt of Modi, by Modi, for Modi," Rahul Gandhi tweeted today.
Rahul Gandhi’s tweet was in context of the stern message that the Supreme Court delivered to the central government over the non-execution of collegium’s decision to transfer and appoint Chief Justices and judges in High Courts.
The apex court said that it will not tolerate the 'logjam' and would intervene to make it accountable.
Exressing its displeasure over the mounting vacancies, the court observed that the centre is perhaps trying to bring judiciary to a halt by not appointing and transferring judges as decided by the collegium.
"We won't tolerate logjam in judges' appointment which is stifling its judicial work. We will fasten accountability," the bench headed by Chief Justice T S Thakur said.
