The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today released its first list for upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab.

The first list consists of 19 candidates including senior Supreme Court lawyer HS Poolkha and Himmat Singh Shergill.

Bhagwant Mann, the controversial Lok Sabha MP, has been made AAP’s chief campaign manager for these elections.

AAP has fielded HS Phoolka from Dakha Assembly constituency while Shergill will contest from SAS Nagar.

The candidature of Phoolka is being seen as  a strong signal to that section of the Sikh community which is unhappy over  justice not being done to the victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Phoolka has led a relentless campaign to get justice for 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims. He is also considered to be one of the leading contenders for the CM post in case AAP emerges victorious in these elections.
