The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has strongly denied allegations that it had written a letter to the CBI in connection with the ongoing probe in the Rose Valley scam case.

"They said report is totally false and baseless. The said letter displayed is a forgery. No such letter has been issued by the Prime Minister's Office," PMO sources said here on Monday.

The clarification came in the wake of a media report claiming that the PMO had wrote a letter to the CBI issuing certain instructions in the Rose Valley case. The reported letter was published in some newspapers and in social media.

The TMC leadership has accused the BJP of pursuing "vendetta" politics in the Rose Valley case. Two TMC MPs - Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Tapas Pal - are in jail in the Rose Valley scam case.

Rose Valley Group has been accused of duping investors of Rs 17,000 crore in different states including Odisha and West Bengal.

While Tapas Pal was a director of Rose Valley Group in 2010, Sudip Bandyopadhyay has been accused of having strong links with the Group's chairman Goutam Kundu, now in jail.
