Lucknow: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday announced a financial assistance of Rs. 20 lakh each to the kin of five CRPF soldiers from Uttar Pradesh, who were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pampore last week.
"Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced a financial assistance of Rs. 20 lakh each to the kin of five CRPF soldiers martyred in Jammu and Kashmir,” UP CM office tweeted.
Eight soldiers were killed when two terrorists attacked a CRPF convoy in Pampore district on June 25.
Five of the jawans - Kailash Kumar Yadav (Unnao), Sanjay Kumar (Jaunpur), Veer Singh (Firozabad), Satish Chandra (Meerut), and Rajesh Kumar (Allahabad) - hailed from the state.
Other than eight martyred, 24 others were critically wounded when terrorists rained bullets on a bus carrying them in South Kashmir's Pulwama.
Terrorists sprayed a bus carrying the personnel of 161 battalion of CRPF with bullets at Frestbal, 14 KMs from here, officials said. The CRPF's Road Opening Party (ROP) engaged the terrorists and killed two of them.
Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba has claimed the responsibility of attack.
