Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and a host of other senior leaders and ministers of the grand alliance today attended an Iftar party hosted by the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee here. Kumar, Azad and Prasad extended their greetings on the occasion.
Replying to a query on the Presidential candidate, Azad told reporters that all opposition parties will meet on June 22 in Delhi to take a final decision on a candidate.
"It will not be appropriate for us (Congress alone) to talk when we have decided to have a consensus on the name of a candidate," Azad said.
"BJP had discussed the issue of Presidential election, but never suggested any name. We were not consulted on any name... We were expecting that BJP may suggest the name of someone of A P J Abdul Kalam's stature. We are not against any individual, rather it is an ideological fight," Azad said.
Lalu Prasad also said the name of the candidate will be decided in the meeting (to be held in Delhi on June 22).
BPCC chief and state education minister Ashok Choudhary welcomed the people on the occasion and extended his greetings. More than hundred children, who live in an orphanage, participated in the Iftar party
