In a significant development, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee today met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar in New Delhi today.
The West Bengal chief minister also held meeting with Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut in the national capital.
The Trinamool Congress chief is also expected to meet UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
"The Central Hall is a famous hall, where I will meet the leaders of my party and if the leaders of other parties want to meet me, I welcome them. We are all friends," she told media at Kolkata airport last night.
The Trinamool Congress chief is also expected to meet UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
A strident critic of the BJP-led central government and its policies, Banerjee is seen as a key player in the possible grouping of non-BJP political parties ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.
She had recently called for unity among all the anti-BJP forces to defeat the saffron party in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
The TMC chief had also met TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who called on her to discuss the process of setting up a federal front against the BJP-led government at the Centre.
