Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Asansol Babul Supriyo, on Monday, alleged that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, with the help of Mafiyas, is trying to create disturbance during the polls.
“Mamata Banerjee, with the help of Mafiyas, is trying to create disturbance during the polls. I will myself take the central forces to the polling station. It is very good that people in West Bengal are aware they want central forces so that they can cast their vote. This is why Mamata Banerjee is scared,” ANI quoted Babul Supriyo, as saying.
Meanwhile, clashes between the TMC workers and QRF and security personnel erupted outside polling booth number 125-129 in Asansol. There was disagreement between the BJP and the CPI(M) workers after the TMC workers insisted on polling despite the absence of central forces.
Babul Supriyo's car was also vandalised in Asansol.
Voting is underway on eight Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. The stakes are high for the ruling BJP and its allies. Polling for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha election 2019 is going on. 168 more seats will go to polls in the last three phases.
