New Delhi: External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday confirmed that the Indian embassy in Libya has secured the release of Regi Joseph, who hails from Kozhikode in Kerala and was working as a computer engineer near the Libyan capital.

“Indian Embassy in Libya has secured the release of Regi Joseph, an Indian national from Kerala,” Sushma Swaraj tweeted.

Expressing gratitude towards Azar A.H. Khan, India’s ambassador to Libya, she said this became possible due to the efforts of him.

Joseph, had been in Libya for two years with his wife (who is a nurse) and three children.

Swaraj assured that the government is doing everything in ensuring the smooth transaction of process.

"I am trying to tell you all that this is a very delicate matter. We are doing everything that we should do," she tweeted.

According to the reports, the last contact Joseph had with his wife was on March 31 through an SMS, where he said saying he would be late to return home.
