Giriraj Singh on Monday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to win Begusarai.

“In Begusarai, no one can compete with the BJP. People are impressed with the image of PM Narendra Modi and are giving votes in his name,” Giriraj Singh said in an exclusive conversation with India TV.

Indirectly, he also attacked Kanhaiya Kumar and his Communist Party of India.

“People will never give votes to a red flag,” he said.

There is a three-cornered fight in Bihar's Begusarai with Giriraj Singh (BJP), Kanhaiya Kumar (CPI) and Tanvir Hasan (RJD) locking horns with each other.

In the fourth phase, on Monday, about 12.79 core voters will decide the fate of 961 candidates, including Union Ministers Subhash Bhamre, Giriraj Singh, S S Ahluwalia and Babul Supriyo of the BJP and former Union ministers Salman Khurshid and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of the Congress.

Giriraj Singh was one of the early voters.

The general election is currently being held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and on the same day, the results will be declared.

Legislative Assembly elections in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will be held simultaneously with the general election.
