Before filing his nomination papers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday addressed booth heads, party workers in Varanasi and requested them to break all records this time.
“You all are Narendra Modi. Break all records this time. I want you all to come out in record numbers. We have to take India forward,” said PM Narendra Modi.
PM also indirectly attacked his opponents and said he converts garbage into compost.
“I convert garbage into compost and blossom lotus out of it,” said PM Narendra Modi and added, “Pro-incumbency wave seen in the country for the first time since independence.”
He also praised the women of India.
“Women will be the new power in the 21st century,” PM said.
At 11.30 am, PM will file his nomination for Varanasi Lok Sabha seat. Varanasi will go to polls on May 19 in the last of the seven-phase for the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
The general election is currently being held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and on the same day the results will be declared.
Legislative Assembly elections in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will be held simultaneously with the general election.
