New Delhi: After taking the independent charge of Minority Affairs portfolio, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said that empowering the minority community will a priority for the Narendra Modi-led government.
“Socio-economic-educational empowerment of minorities will be our priority. Honest and transparent efforts will be made so that fruits of development reach last person of the society,” Naqvi said.
A presentation was made to him by senior officials of the ministry regarding its initiatives.
Naqvi was given independent charge of the portfolio after Najma Heptulla stepped down from the post of Union Minority Affairs Minister yesterday due to “personal” reasons.
According to media reports, Heptulla has been given an honourable exit with BJP president Amit Shah reportedly promising her a suitable position in near future.
