The Election Commission on Thursday announced the schedule for by-polls to three parliamentary and twelve assembly constituencies.
In Jammu and Kashmir, by-polls to the parliamentary constituency of Srinagar will be held on April 9 while for the parliamentary constituency of Anantnag will be held on April 12. The votes would be counted on April 15.
In Kerala, the by-poll to the Lok Sabha seat of Malappuram will be held on April 12, and the result will be announced on April 17, the EC announced.
By-polls for various assembly constituencies in Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Delhi will be held on April 9 and the results announced on April 13.
In Tamil Nadu and Sikkim, the by-polls for various assembly seats will be held on April 12 and the votes will be counted on April 15.
The poll panel said that the model code of conduct “shall come into force with immediate effect in the district(s) in which the whole or any part of the parliamentary/assembly constituencies going for bye-elections is included”.
