Cutting across party lines, members of the Delhi Assembly today passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army for the surgical strikes against the terrorist launch pads based out of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The resolution, moved by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, also condemned the attack by "Pakistan-sponsored" terrorists in "strongest possible terms".

The original resolution did not have PM Modi’s name mentioned in it.

Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta of the BJP, while supporting the resolution, moved an amendment to include Modi's name for taking the "landmark" decision.

The amendment was passed after Kejriwal asked for the inclusion of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, the central government and the chiefs of the armed forces.

The army carried out the surgical strikes in the early hours of September 29 on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) inflicting "significant casualties".
