Lucknow: Two days after the Samajwadi Party leadership praised Bahuhan Samaj Party (BSP) rebel Swamy Prasad Maurya, Uttar Pradesh PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav today described him as someone "who has lost his mental balance".

“Maurya has lost his mental balance because he got more than what he deserved in the Bahuhan Samaj Party,” Shivpal, the younger brother of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said.

“Maurya required medical help,” he added.

The harsh words from Shivpal come a day after the BSP rebel described Samajwadi Party as a party of goondas.

It was only on Thursday that Shivpal's nephew and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had praised Maurya, calling him a "good man, popular leader who was in a wrong party".

Meanwhile, sources said Maurya is in New Delhi and is in touch with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership to discuss a "respectable joining".

Earlier, there were reports that the leader may float a new political part to enter the poll fray. An Assembly election in the most populous state of the country is due early next year.
