Congress leader Pramod Tiwari today hit out at rival BJP alleging that the saffron party has diverted from its core ideal that it will never compromise on Article 370.
Dubbing BJP's alliance with PDP as self contradictory, Tiwari said, "Mehooba Mufti said in Assembly that she would not let 370 be abolished and BJP formed the government with her."
"Shyama Prasad Mukherje, founder of Jan Sangh, would never have compromised on Article 370, which BJP's ally PDP openly advocates for Jammu and Kashmir," Tiwari said
Tiwari made the remark during a debate at the India TV Chunav Manch conclave in Lucknow which also saw the participation of BJP spokeperson Sambit Patra and Samajwadi Party leader Abu Aazmi.
Responding to PM Modi's recent definition of SCAM (Samajwadi Congress Akhilesh Mayawati), Tiwari said SCAM stands for for Shivpal (MP CM), Corporation (Gujarat petroleum scam), Amit Shah and Modi.
Calling demonetisation the biggest scam of the 21st century, Tiwari alleged that the Prime Minister excels in making false promises.
He further justified the Congress alliance with the SO, saying it was based on their common belief in the idea of socialism.
"Among non-Congress Chief Ministers, Akhilesh Yadav has the cleanest image," Tiwari added.
BJP Spokeperson Sambit Patra took a swipe at Congress, saying the grand old party's alliance with the SP cannot save it from sinking into oblivion.
"Since Rahul Gandhi has sit on this cycle, it will not move in Uttar Pardesh," Patra said, adding that Rahul was a failed missile that refuses to launch. “He did not launch from the khaat and will not launch from the carrier of the cycle either,” he said.
He also slammed the Congress for marking a first for a party to forge an alliance with a party with another CM Candidate after announcing its own (Sheila Dikshit).
Lauding PM Modi for is perseverance despite being at the receiving end of his detractors, Patra said, "After 12 years of trial and targetting, Narendra Modi became Prime Minister of India. He has great spiritual power."
He also said BJP does not need any ally in Uttar Pradesh, and that it will win elections on its own.
Samajwadi Party leader Abu Aazmi said the SP joined hands with Congress to defeat the communal forces.
Lambasting BJP for trying to divide the country on religious lines, Aazmi said association with Congress was necessary to unites secular votes.
Slamming Modi government for its demonetisation drive, Aazmi said it affected everyone from a ‘Mungfali wala’ to a corporate honcho.
He also said since the big promises of Prime minister have fallen flat, BJP will not be able to hoodwink the voters this time.
"Modijee said we will deposit Rs 15 lakh in common men's accounts, they innocently believed in his false promises but later BJP changes its stance and invokes the issue of Ram Mandir to create communal tension," he added.
